BWARM invites you to our "Back to Basics: United Methodist 101" series. Our programs for fall 2017 to spring 2018 will focus on foundations for LGBTQ inclusion and stimulate our thinking as we follow the work of the Commission on a Way Forward, and look toward the special session of General Conference in February 2019.
TRADITION: Saturday, November 18, 2017
Saturday, November 18, 2017 - BWARM Meeting at Colesville UMC in Silver Spring, MD
Join us for fellowship at 9:30am (with coffee and breakfast snacks) and worship & meeting, 10am-noon. Worship with Holy Communion at 10am, led by Rev. Kathy Kohl. ALL ARE WELCOME.
Program: In our "Back to Basics: United Methodist 101" series, today we'll look at Tradition and the work for LGBTQ inclusion. Rev. Dr. Charlie Parker, Senior Pastor at National UMC in Washington, DC, will help us look at some of the ways our denomination has tried to resolve conflicts, with particular attention to how we have responded to inclusivity and marginalized peoples. How do we preserve our attempts to be a "big tent" denomination? Or when are issues that divide us too important to compromise?
Location: Colesville UMC in 52 Randolph Road, Silver Spring, MD 20904. There is wheel chair accessibility from the parking lot at the back of the church. Enter under a glass enclosed ramp into Anderson Hall, where the meeting will take place.
REASON: Saturday, February 17, 2018
